Although there haven’t been many Pac-12 games as of late, the Conference of Champions held strong in Monday’s latest edition of the Ferris Mowers Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll, powered by USA TODAY Sports.
Of Colorado’s most immediate interest, Arizona (12-1), which the Buffs face on Thursday, improved one spot in the poll to No. 6. Arizona’s only game last week was a 95-79 win over Washington.
USC also won its lone game of the week against Cal to remain undefeated. Like Arizona, the Trojans’ win wasn’t exactly groundbreaking, but it was enough to boost USC one spot to No. 7. The Buffs will host the 13-0 Trojans soon on Jan. 20.
The only other Pac-12 team featured in the poll was No. 3 UCLA. After a lengthy hiatus due to COVID-19 issues, the 10-1 Bruins beat Long Beach State and Cal last week to improve two spots.
UCLA beat the Buffs handily back on Dec. 1, but these squads will meet again in Boulder on Jan. 22.
With the Buffs facing all three of the Pac-12’s best teams within the next 11 days, a win or two should get Colorado a spot inside the poll.
