After arguably the best game of his career, the Raiders will be without defensive tackle Darius Philon for the rest of the season. He was injured midway through the Week 18 matchup with the Chargers and did not return.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Philon tore his patellar tendon and will miss the rest of the season. This is usually a several-month injury and it’s fair to be concerned that he won’t be ready for training camp in late July.
Raiders DL Darius Philon, who made several big plays against the Chargers on Sunday night, suffered a torn patellar tendon in the game, per source. He will start the recovery process soon and his season is over.

After playing with the Chargers for the first four years of his career, he joined the Raiders in 2021 and became a key contributor on the defensive line. He appeared in 11 games and totaled five tackles for a loss and two sacks.
He is a free agent heading into the 2022 offseason, but it wouldn’t be surprising if he returned to the Raiders this offseason. Here is to hoping that Philon recovers from his injury and can return to the field sooner rather than later.
