The Chargers’ season is officially over after they lost in overtime to the Raiders.
For a moment, it seemed like the tie narrative was becoming a reality when Justin Herbert sent the game into overtime.
However, Las Vegas ultimately sealed the deal and advanced to the playoffs after Daniel Carlson’s hit the game-winner as time expired.
Here’s what the general population had to say about the Bolts’ 35-32 loss:
Justin Herbert is elite. A lot of missed opportunities tonight, refs didn’t help. Regardless, we #BoltUp baby!⚡️⚡️

Wildest game ever.
The #Raiders are in. The #Steelers are in. The #Chargers are out.

Brandon Staley took the timeout because he out smarted himself.
There’s one player missing on the #Chargers defense after the timeout. That missing player was the difference. See for yourself pic.twitter.com/ROvz4sLcqK

Well, not the outcome I was hoping for but way to come back and make it a game @chargers thanks for a great season! #BoltUp

No other team I’d rather cheer for! Even though they’ll probably kill me by the time I’m 35 #BoltUp @chargers

So many games during the season that we should have won to where this game shouldn’t even have mattered! Please next year just be better. There’s no reason we don’t make some huge defensive changes this off-season. PLEASE! #Chargers #BoltUp

Derek Carr admits that Brandon Staley calling a timeout changed what happened at the end.

It was a good season Chargers, build stronger and come back to do damage next year. Herbert is someone you can build a Super Bowl team around and tonight proved he has nerves of steel. #BoltUp

I didn’t think it was possible to hate the #Raiders any more than I did.
BUT. I love this team, I loved this season, and I love the direction we’re going in 💙💛 #BoltUp— Rachel Dillon, RD (@coldbrewchick) January 10, 2022
The real crime was giving up a 3rd and 23 on a draw.
The real crime was taking White off the field for Murray on damn near every 3rd down.
The real crime was calling PI on a ball that was 20 yards away from anything.
The real crime was the Chargers D.
Idgaf about the timeout.

The Chargers led the league in dropped passes
Had statistically the worst run defense in the nfl
Had statistically the worst 3rd down defense in the league
and Herbert put them on his back all year to within seconds of a playoff birth
Respect Justin Herbert

Both teams knew the Raiders weren’t going to pass again. The Raiders still ran for 17 yards on last 2 plays. That’s the story of the Chargers season.
