Nick Saban showed up to Indianapolis for Monday’s College Football Playoff national championship game and made an eye-catching statement before opening his mouth. A fashion statement.
On Friday, the Alabama football coach — who already has an AP Poll record seven national titles on his resume and is coaching for his eighth against Georgia — exited the plane to Indy wearing a stylish, retro-looking brown leather bomber jacket.
Even if his jacket probably wasn’t the warmest — The Tuscaloosa News reported it was about 18 degrees when the flight landed — Saban looked fantastic in it. Naturally, college football fans loved it, and many predicted his post-flight look will translate to a massive victory over the Bulldogs and the Crimson Tide’s second consecutive national title.
And, according to Saban’s daughter, Kristen Saban Setas, on Instagram, the head coach has this jacket for 30 years.
So it turns out, it actually is an old-school look. And here’s how college football Twitter — and some Alabama players — reacted to it.
