Titans designate Derrick Henry to return from Injured Reserve

Winter is coming: The King is one step closer to returning for the Titans.

The Tennessee Titans have taken the next step towards bringing back their superstar running back, Derrick Henry, who has been on Injured Reserve since injuring his foot in Week 8 against the Indianapolis Colts.

The team announced on Wednesday that it is has designated Henry to return from IR, opening his 21-day window to return to practice and be activated from the list.

In addition to that move, the Titans officially inked tight end Ryan Izzo to the active roster, and added defensive lineman Da’Shawn Hand to the practice squad.

Now the question becomes: will Henry play in Week 18?

Well, according to a report from ESPN’s Dianna Russini on Tuesday, The King is a “long shot” to play, but it hasn’t been ruled out yet.

Assuming he’s 100 percent healthy, it might not hurt for the Titans to get Henry some work in order to shake off the rust. The good news is that if Tennessee does decide to take it slower than that with Henry, the Titans should still be able to win in Week 18 and clinch the No. 1 seed.

The Titans will look to do so against the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium on Sunday, with kickoff set for noon CST.
