The Southeastern Conference showed the nation who is boss on New Year’s Eve with a pair of authoritative wins in the College Football Playoff semifinals. The Georgia Bulldogs rolled over the Michigan Wolverines in the Orange Bowl, 34-11, while the Alabama Crimson Tide flexed on the Cincinnati Bearcats in the Cotton Bowl, 27-6, in a duet of routs that should silence any SEC doubters.
As a result, the two will meet in the national championship game two Mondays from today in a rematch of the SEC championship game. While ‘Bama posted a firm 41-24 victory in that tilt, the bookmakers seem to feel the ‘Dawgs carry the edge heading into what should be an epic contest.
According to the Tipico Sportsbook, the Bulldogs open as a 2.5 point favorite over the Crimson Tide with the over-under starting at 52.5 points. Georgia’s money is minus-155 while Alabama’s fell to plus-125 as of 11 a.m. EST Sunday, Jan. 2.
Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. EST on Monday, Jan. 10, inside Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, Indiana. The game will be broadcast on ESPN and livestreamed on the ESPN app.
