Matthew Judon removed from COVID list amid flurry of transactions for Week 17

The Patriots will be getting reinforcements at linebacker for Sunday.

Ahead of Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the New England Patriots are set to get a huge boost. Linebackers Matthew Judon, Ja’whaun Bentley and Brandon King will be activated from the COVIS-19/reserve list in time for Sunday’s game.

Linebacker Dont’a Hightower will also be available for Sunday’s game after missing practice on Friday. This news was first reported by Jim McBride of the Boston Globe.

New England also elevated three players from the practice squad on Friday: defensive tackle Daniel Ekuale, defensive back D’Angelo Ross and receiver Kristian Wilkerson. All three players were active against the Buffalo Bills in Week 16.

With this news, the Patriots get reinforcements to their pass rush, and stability at linebacker. Judon has 12.5 sacks on the year. Bentley has 88 combined tackles on the year, including six in the team’s last game against the Buffalo Bills.

Hightower has offered a veteran presence to the position, as he has tallied 62 total tackles on the year. He is on pace to beat his mark of 71 from the 2019  season.

These are certainly positive developments for the Patriots, who look to snap a two-game losing streak when they take on the Jacksonville Jaguars. Kickoff is set for 1:00 PM.
