Ferguson (25-6 MMA, 15-4 UFC), a former interim UFC lightweight champion, wrote on social media Saturday that he’s been in discussions for a showdown with Chandler (22-7 MMA, 1-2 UFC) in April or June.

The matchup had yet to be reported publicly, but when Chandler answered a fan question on Twitter about his desire to fight Conor McGregor, it prompted Ferguson to put his cards on the table and question whether the former Bellator champ really wants to fight (via Twitter):

Ferguson, 37, is currently in the midst of a three-fight losing skid. After going on a 12-fight winning streak, he’s dropped bouts to Justin Gaethje, Chandler Oliveira, and Beneil Dariush.

Chandler, 35, for his part, has lost back-to-back bouts to Gaethje and Oliveira after winning his UFC debut vs. Dan Hooker in January 2021. The Gaethje contest was the Fight of the Year for most, while the Olivera bout was for the vacant UFC lightweight belt.
