Ex-Boston Celtics two way point guard Tremont Waters signing 10-day hardship exception deal with Wizards

The former Celtics floor general will help Washington weather its COVID-19 crisis.

Boston Celtics alumnus and former two way point guard Tremont Waters has been signed by the Washington Wizards on a 10-day hardship exception according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

The former 51st overall pick of the 2019 NBA draft for Boston had most recently been playing for the Toronto Raptors in a similar role and deal, having signed with that team after too many players in the league’s health and safety protocols required the Raptors to sign a hardship exception player. Waters had previously been on the roster of the Wisconsin Herd — the Milwaukee Bucks G League affiliate — after leaving Boston this past offseason.

The Connecticut native might well yet find himself a longer-term deal in the NBA via a good showing with the Wiz. And with the pandemic showing little signs of abating, he may yet find himself on the move around the league to help fill in the gaps created by COVID-19.
