Fool me once … fool me twice …
Alabama will come into its second meeting with Georgia as an underdog for the second time this season.
Georgia is a 2 1/2-point favorite with an over/under of 52. When the schools first met for the SEC Championship, Alabama was victorious, 41-24, which totaled 65 points.
The Crimson Tide and Bulldogs will meet in the CFP title game on Jan. 10 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis to decide the national championship.
Both schools are coming off resounding victories; Alabama thumped Cincinnati, 27-6, in the Cotton Bowl on New Year’s Eve and Georgia followed by thrashing Michigan, 34-11, in the Orange Bowl.
The rematch is on for Nick Saban and Kirby Smart.
Both schools are 13-1. They met in early December and the Dawgs came in as the favorites with Alabama as the dog … underdog.
That role didn’t suit Nick Saban and his Crimson Tide. They went out and pummeled Georgia as Bryce Young put on a show, throwing for more than 400 yards and sealing his Heisman-winning campaign.
Young is looking to become the third straight Heisman winner to capture the national title, following LSU’s Joe Burrow (2019) and Alabama’s DeVonta Smith (2020).
