Wisconsin ILB Jack Sanborn accepts East-West Shrine Bowl invitation

At the conclusion of the Las Vegas Bowl, senior inside linebacker Jack Sanborn will taking part in the East-West Shrine Bowl after accepting an invitation earlier this morning.

The East-West Shrine bowl will be played on February 3, 2022 in Las Vegas – essentially acting as a college football All-Star game.

This invite comes on the heels of an impressive senior season that saw him play all 12 games – racking up 88 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and a fumble recovery.

Jack Sanborn was named first-team All-Big Ten this season alongside running mate Leo Chenal – creating the most dominant inside linebacker duo in the Big Ten. In 2020, Sanborn received third-team All-Big Ten honors and led the team in tackles.

For his career, Sanborn has recorded more than 200 tackles, 27.5 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, 4 interceptions, 8 pass deflections, and three forced fumbles in 44 career games.

Jack Sanborn will use this opportunity to improve his NFL draft stock, as he’s already viewed as a top 10 inside linebacker on Mel Kipers big board.

Sometimes, we as fans take players like Jack Sanborn for granted because of how consistently great they are. Sanborn truly was a special player at UW and produced at a high level every season he was on the field – his production and football IQ will be sorely missed.
