“I didn’t play well today. I let my team down for sure,” offered Boston Celtics star forward Jaylen Brown to the press after the team’s embarrassing loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday night.
Pushing back against suggestions by his teammates that the team as a whole needed to reckon with its identity moving forward if winning games was the goal of the franchise, Brown instead elected to claim personal responsibility. And while his rough play throughout patches and inability to find ways to make his fellow Celtics better was indeed on him, there is a growing current of analysts and fans pointing to a number of other issues with the club.
Is Brown right to put the blame on his own shoulders against Minnesota, or is there more going on here?
