The Jazz are arguably the hottest team in the NBA with an 8-2 record over their last 10. Utah will be without star G Donovan Mitchell Monday after he struggled with his back injury throughout their Christmas Day game with the Dallas Mavericks.
The Jazz accompany the Golden State Warriors as the only teams with a top seven offensive and defensive rating.
The Spurs might be under .500, but they’re sixth in offensive rating and a top-20 defensive team. They’re far better than their record indicates and have a plus-2.1 net rating (10th).
Utah is 16-16 against the spread (ATS) this season while San Antonio is 19-13 ATS. The Spurs have the league’s fifth-best ATS record.

Money line
SPRINKLE on the SPURS (+230) as they should have a chance to pull off the upset at home. San Antonio will be the healthier team and is coming off an absolutely dominant victory against the Detroit Pistons.
The Spurs have won their last three games by 24, 28 and 35 points respectively. They’re rounding into form and have all the pieces necessary to down the Jazz.
Against the spread
BET on the SPURS +6.5 (-105) as their competence could give Utah some issues, especially without Mitchell. The Spurs rank third in the NBA in turnover rate, so they take care of the ball.
Similarly, they are top-12 in true shooting rate. Combine the two and the fact that they’ll be able to match C Rudy Gobert‘s size with C Jakob Poeltl, and I think they’ll have a strong chance to cover.
Over/Under
“LEAN” to the UNDER 229.5 (-108) as both teams don’t turn the ball over and both have competent defenses.
Without the Jazz’s leading scorer as well, this could be a relatively low-scoring battle. The Spurs rank fifth in pace, but the Jazz do have Gobert in the paint and the three-time Defensive Player of the Year should be able to limit their chances at the rim.
The Jazz have a top-tier defense and should have a struggling offense without Mitchell. Put the two together, and I think they’ll be able to limit the Spurs.
