How Titans can clinch AFC South, regain No. 1 seed in Week 17

A look at the Titans’ playoff chances, and what they need to do to secure the AFC South and regain the No. 1 seed.

The Tennessee Titans notched a huge 20-17 win in Week 16 against the San Francisco 49ers on “Thursday Night Football,” their 10th victory of the 2021 season; however, Tennessee is still looking to secure a playoff spot.

The Indianapolis Colts won their Saturday night game against the Arizona Cardinals, which puts the Titans clinching the division on hold for another week.

Of the two teams the Titans needed to lose in Week 16 in order to regain the No. 1 seed, the Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots, only the Patriots lost, leaving Tennessee in the No. 2 spot ahead of Week 17.

Per the New York Times, the Titans have a 99-percent chance to make the playoffs, a 93-percent chance win the AFC South, and a 24-percent chance to get a first-round bye via the No. 1 seed.

Let’s take a look at the current standings in the division and playoff picture and see what the Titans need to do in order to clinch the division and regain the top seed in the conference.
