Titans vs. 49ers: Key matchups to watch in Week 16

The Titans have to do a better job protecting Ryan Tannehill if they want to beat the Niners in Week 16.

If the Tennessee Titans are going to bounce-back from a Week 15 loss in Week 16 versus the San Francisco 49ers, it’s likely going to be their defense that leads the charge.

That’s because Tennessee has struggled mightily on offense this season, and especially over the last four weeks, a span that has seen the Titans average a putrid 14.8 points per contest.

The possible return of wide receiver A.J. Brown figures to be a shot in the arm for the Titans, but he won’t be able to do much if the team keeps on turning the ball over and providing awful pass protection.

San Francisco, on the other hand, has been playing its best football of late, with five wins in their last six games. In that span, the Niners are scoring 29.2 points per game, and they have backed that up with solid defense.

If the Titans are going to pull off an upset and get back to their winning ways on Thursday night, they’ll need to win the majority of the following matchups.
