Sixers star Joel Embiid doing things not seen since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid is doing things not seen since the days of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

The Philadelphia 76ers have certainly been up and down during the 2021-22 season, but one constant has been the stellar play of Joel Embiid.

The big fella had another incredible game in Monday’s win over the Boston Celtics: 41 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, four steals and two blocks. Embiid scored 17 points in the fourth quarter and made numerous clutch shots to help the Sixers get the win.

“I thought through that fourth quarter, we did a really good job of allowing them not to double team him and putting the right personnel in those spots where they did double team, we were going to make them pay,” said Tobias Harris. “You got to give him credit, too, because he made some tough shots.”

Embiid conjured up his third such stat line that rivaled one of the game’s all-time greats. Only the great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has had more of those stat lines (four) since blocks became official in the 1973-74 season.

Embiid and the Sixers look to begin a winning streak when they host the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday.
