Vikings underdogs at home against the Rams in Week 16

Will the Vikings pull off the upset?

Minnesota notched its record to 7-7 on Monday. The Vikings finished off the Bears, but did not do so in a convincing manner. That’s pretty reflective of how this year has gone for the team.

Minnesota has shown that it can play with or lose to anybody. The Rams (9-4) on the other hand, have been a lot more consistent since adding Matthew Stafford via trade this offseason.

So it makes sense that Los Angeles heads into the Week 16 matchup as the favorite. According to Tipico Sportsbook, the Rams (+102) are favored by 3.5 points over the Vikings (-125) for the Sunday game.

The Vikings have a pretty pristine record against Stafford, but he has a much better team this year than he ever did in Detroit. The Vikings oftentimes thrived against the Lions offense by getting to Stafford in the passing game. When he was on the Lions in 2020, Stafford was sacked 39 times. This year, he has been sacked just 20 times so far.

Minnesota’s pass rush has been stellar this year, but the team is missing edge rushers Danielle Hunter and likely Everson Griffen for the Week 16 matchup. DE D.J. Wonnum stepped up on Monday night against the Bears. Will the Vikings’ depleted pass rush do the same against the Rams on Sunday?
