Toronto Raptors rookie Scottie Barnes on Tuesday was reportedly placed into the NBA’s health and safety protocols, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Barnes is the latest player within the Raptors organization added to the health and safety protocols, joining Pascal Siakam, Fred VanVleet, Gary Trent Jr. and Dalano Banton among others. Toronto has seven total players in protocols now.
The Raptors had their contest on Monday versus the Orlando Magic postponed as both teams had multiple players and staff members in the health and safety protocols. Toronto is still reportedly scheduled to play the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday.

Barnes has emerged as an early-season candidate for Rookie of the Year after averaging 15.6 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.1 steals in 27 games. He is tied for the lead in scoring and rebounding average among all first-year players.
Players and coaches entered into the health and safety protocols are required to miss a minimum of 10 days in isolation. However, they can be cleared to play sooner if they return two consecutive negative PCR tests taken at least 24 hours apart.
The NBA is in the midst of its most trying stretch of the season as players and teams alike battle ongoing issues surrounding the coronavirus pandemic. During the month of December alone, over 100 players have been added to the health and safety protocols.
