Lakers’ Anthony Davis opens up about how he feels after avoiding major injury

Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis explained his relief he didn’t injure himself seriously.

The Los Angeles Lakers breathed a sigh of relief when finding out Anthony Davis’ timetable for recovery.

Davis went down with a knee injury in the loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, and the star’s initial reaction when he embraced his knee for a long time — including falling down in pain on his way to the locker room — foreshadowed something terrible.

However, an MRI after the game revealed an MCL sprain for the star big man that will sideline him for four weeks before he gets reevaluated.

Davis explained how he feels now that he knows how long he’ll be out, via Spectrum SportsNet:

“Mentally, I’m fine. In good spirits being around the team. Obviously avoided a major injury, which has kind of got my spirits back up because I just didn’t know. The whole time from when it happened, to the MRI the next day, I was just in limbo about what was going on … got good news that I avoided surgery, so that’s good, but it stills sucks that I’m gonna be out for some weeks trying to get this right.”

Davis said his knee throbbed and his emotions were all over the place as he prepared for the worst.

Considering what could’ve happened, the Lakers are extremely fortunate to have Davis out for a minimum of only four weeks. L.A. will sorely miss his presence down low on both ends of the floor.
