With the Philadelphia 76ers down so many players at the moment due to them entering the health and safety protocols as well as a variety of other injuries, it was time for them to make a move to replenish their roster.
The Sixers will bring in former Brooklyn Nets guard Tyler Johnson on a hardship exemption. The 6-year veteran out of Fresno State averaged 5.4 points and 2.0 rebounds while shooting 36.4% from deep in the 2020-21 season with the Nets. He started his career with the Miami Heat before being moved to the Phoenix Suns in the 2018-19 season.
With the Sixers missing Shake Milton in the health protocols, Tyrese Maxey dealing with a left quad contusion, and Furkan Korkmaz being out with a non-COVID illness, the move of signing Johnson gives the Sixers some much-needed help in the ball-handling department.
Johnson is signing on a hardship exemption with the Sixers, sources say. He played 39 games for the Nets last season.

The Sixers will get set to take on the Boston Celtics on Monday, but Johnson is unlikely to be available for Philadelphia right away. Instead, they will have to rely more on Aaron Henry and Isaiah Joe to handle the ball.
