It’s foolish to read too much into one throw during an NFL game. But that’s exactly what happened on Twitter after New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones threw an interception to Indianapolis Colts linebacker Darius Leonard in the red zone on Saturady night.
The Patriots were driving and appeared to be on the verge of setting themselves up with a score at the end of the first half. But Jones locked his eyes on tight end Hunter Henry and Leonard read the play to perfection. As Jones attempted to zip the ball to Henry, Leonard dropped into place to nab the pick, the first Jones has thrown in the red zone during his NFL career.
Here’s how it went down.

Twitter was not kind to Jones. They were (wrongly) ready to give up on the rookie for his first-ever red-zone turnover.
