An important matchup between [autotag]Raquel Pennington[/autotag] and Macy Chaisson delivered an incredible fight on the prelims of UFC Fight Night 199.
The fight was originally scheduled to take place at bantamweight, but a fight week change saw the competitors weigh in at the featherweight limit, although Chiasson missed the mark in her short-notice appearance. Despite the issues on the scale, the fight proceeded as planned.
The first round started fast with heated striking exchanges from both fighters. Pennington (13-8 MMA, 10-5 UFC) found a home for hard punches while Chiasson (7-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC) was able to quickly return fire with strikes of her own, making for an exciting opening round.
The second round started in a similar fashion. Chiasson landed hard kicks to the body while Pennington answered with punches upstairs. The pace started to slow a little as the round progressed, but the exchanges continued.
After Pennington landed a nice two-punch combination followed by an uppercut and a knee to the body, she clamped down on a guillotine attempt as Chiasson looked to clinch, bringing the fight to the canvas.
Pennington stuck with the choke and became the first to finish Chiasson by forcing a tap at 3:07 in the second round.
The first person to ever finish Macy Chiasson!
