Ahead of the matchup on Saturday night at Lucas Oil Stadium with the Indianapolis Colts, the New England Patriots downgraded starting running back Damien Harris from “questionable” to “out” on Friday.
Harris is the leading rusher for the Patriots offense with 164 carries for 754 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns—all of which lead the offense. With Harris out, the Patriots are likely to lean on rookie Rhamondre Stevenson.
A sixth-round pick out of Oklahoma, Stevenson has shown a lot of promise during his rookie campaign. He has taken 100 carries for 429 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns while adding 12 receptions for 117 receiving yards.
The Colts have the ninth-ranked total defense and the fifth-best run defense according to DVOA rankings but now their attention will be focused on stopping the rookie back.
