Dolphins RB Phillip Lindsay has tested positive for COVID-19

The Dolphins are down to practice squad running backs.

The Dolphins now have no healthy backs on their active roster after the last week of news.

Last week, Miami put Patrick Laird (knee) on injured reserve and put both Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed on the reserve/COVID-19 list. This left Phillip Lindsay as the lone back on the 53-man roster, but he’s been dealing with an ankle injury.

Now, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Lindsay has tested positive for COVID-19 and will join Gaskin and Ahmed on the reserve list. Pelissero also reported that Lindsay is vaccinated, so, like Gaskin and Ahmed, he will have to post two negative results at least 24 hours apart to return to the team.

With the Dolphins Week 15 game scheduled for Sunday afternoon, there’s time for the players to return, but if they can’t, the team has Duke Johnson and Gerrid Doaks on the practice squad if need be.

Miami is also working out old friend Lamar Miller today, according to reports. It wouldn’t be surprising to see the veteran added to the roster to help out for the week.
