Cougar (and Auburn) Twitter is full of excuses following Alabama’s 83-82 win over No. 14 Houston

Yet another example of the losing team looking for an excuse.

The buzzer in Alabama’s matchup against No. 14 Houston has long sounded and the game has been final for nearly 24 full hours, now. That isn’t stopping Cougars fans (and Auburn fans, of course) on social media from airing their grievances against the officiating crew regarding the last-second block at the rim by JD Davison to secure the W for the Crimson Tide.

The game between the two top 15 programs came down to the wire. Davison, one of Alabama’s many talented guards, helped the Tide grab the lead at 83-82 with just over half a minute left to go. That bucket would prove to be enough after Davison made another play, this time at the other end of the court, by blocking a putback attempt at the rim.

Immediately the coaching staff for Houston wanted a review, but since a goaltend was not called on the court the play is not reviewable (Wasn’t a goaltend, anyways.).

Frustrated by this, Houston head coach Kelvin Sampson and a few of his players cornered the officials while they attempted to leave the court.

After the officials managed to get off the court, some Cougars players and staff resorted to kicking chairs and turning over trash cans, which can be seen in the following tweet.

After the mayhem, however, Houston’s Jamal Shead went viral on Twitter after being filmed cleaning up the mess his teammates and coaches left behind.

Following are my favorite tweets from Twitter following Alabama’s close win over Houston.

This was a fun win, and even a day later I’m still getting loads of entertainment!
