Taylor Heinicke departed early in the 4th quarter and did not return

Taylor Heinicke departed Washington’s Week 14 game early in the fourth quarter with an injury. Kyle Allen finished the game.

It was a miserable day for Washington quarterback Taylor Heinicke.

It ended with 12:56 in the game and Washington trailing 27-8, when Washington center Tyler Larsen was man-handled resulting in Heinicke being sacked for a 10-yard loss and injuring his left knee.

Larsen was carted off the field with perhaps an Achilles injury, while Heinicke was tended to, eventually limping off of the field favoring his left knee.

It was the second time of the game Heinicke had exited the game injured, as Kyle Allen replaced him briefly in the first half.

He completed his very first pass attempt to Adam Humphries and for a first down. What followed was Heinicke being rushed, being hurried, being hit, being sacked, being intercepted once (for a touchdown) and nearly intercepted a few other times.

Heinicke had his worst statistical day of the season, of course, being rushed all day. He completed only 11 of 25 for 122 yards, good for only 4.9 yards per attempt.

If all of that was not bad enough, as Heinicke walked to the sideline being injured, he bent down and apparently picked up a pair of scissors off of the playing field.

We’ll continue to monitor Heinicke’s status throughout the week.
