Mac Jones doesn’t seem like he’ll be resting during the Patriots’ bye week

Mac Jones plans to enjoy the bye week, but not too much.

The New England Patriots may have a bye week coming up, but quarterback Mac Jones will still be working.

It may seem like all he has done is work this past year. The quarterback has accomplished a lot in the last year, from winning the college football national championship with Alabama in January to being named the Patriots’ starter before the season.

He has plenty more to accomplish. Jones may have his work cut out for him, as he will face a pass defense that ranks 11th in the NFL. Last week, the Colts held the Houston Texans to just 94 yards through the air. As transcribed by Andy Hart, Jones does plan to enjoy the time off. He also plans to review New England’s next opponent, the Indianapolis Colts.

“Like I said, reviewing the film and things that we can do better,” Jones said of what he’ll welcome most on the weekend off. “And then just getting away a little bit, taking the advice from the older people on our team. But also realizing that we have a big game coming up against Indy and they’re a great team with a similar situation that we’re in. They may not have started super fast like we did, but they’ve been playing really well down the stretch. And they’re well coached and have great players. So we have to be ready with that in mind and have a big-picture view there.”

Indianapolis comes into this game with New England on a winning streak of their own. They have won three of their last four games, with their only loss coming against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Losing by a 38-31 score, Indianapolis managed to keep that game close as well.

Even with some time off, Mac Jones is going to continue working hard, with key games coming up down the stretch.
