At one point this season, it looked like the Dallas Cowboys were about to run away with the NFC East. Dallas began the season 6-1 but has lost three of its last five games and is now 8-4.

After a four-game winning streak, Washington is right behind Dallas at 6-6. If Washington can win on Sunday, it would be just one game back with four to play, including another game against the Cowboys two weeks later.

The two teams do battle in Week 14 from FedEx Field, and, according to Tipico Sportsbook, the Cowboys open as 3.5-point favorites.

While Washington is probably playing better football right now, the Cowboys remain one of the NFL’s best teams. Quarterback Dak Prescott leads arguably the league’s top offense into Washington with all of his wide receivers healthy and available. Washington’s secondary has been outstanding recently, but this will be its stiffest test of the season.

Washington hopes to get a pair of defenders back for its division clash against the Cowboys. Defensive end Montez Sweat and safety Landon Collins could return to practice Wednesday, which would be significant for Washington’s chances.
