Overview

Penn State has a long history of developing high-quality defensive linemen over the years, and that tradition looks to continue in the Class of 2022 with the addition of Dani Dennis-Sutton. Dennis-Sutton is a four or five-star recruit depending on which recruiting service you rely on, and there are plenty of reasons to like what he may bring to the table once he arrives in Happy Valley. For starters, he certainly is not lacking in confidence if his Twitter account is any indication.

Dennis-Sutton wrapped up a stellar high school career for McDonogh School in Maryland, where one of Penn State’s current defensive standouts (Curtis Jacobs) resides. It would seem a pipeline with the high school program could be continuing to pay off on the defensive sides of things for the next few years. Dennis-Sutton could also be walking into an early opportunity to get involved on the defensive line. Penn State plugged some holes on the defensive line with a pair of transfers in Arnold Ebiketie and derrick Tangelo, but Dennis-Sutton could be a more long-term fit on the line as far as college football is concerned.

There is no question that the addition of Dennis-Sutton was a major recruiting victory for James Franklin and the Penn State staff. Dennis-Sutton offered his verbal commitment to Penn State over offers from Alabama and Georgia. Dennis-Sutton committed to Penn State roughly a month after an official visit to Alabama, which he made a week after an official visit to Penn State in June 2021.
