Diamond Battles’ lay-up with nine seconds left put Central Florida ahead by a point and her steal of Sasha Goforth with four seconds left ensured UCF’s victory over Arkansas on Thursday night in Orlando, 52-51.

The loss is Arkansas’ (6-2) first in its last five games. The Golden Knights (6-1) have won four straight games, including victories over Southern California and Virginia, as well. UCF’s only loss is to No. 11 Tennessee.

Battles had appeared to the be the scapegoat for a potential UCF loss when Erynn Barnum stole the ball from her with 30 seconds left. Goforth put the Razorbacks ahead on the ensuing possession. Battles and Tay Sanders were the only two Central Florida players who finished in double figures as Sanders had 15 points and Battles another 13.

Arkansas guard Makayla Daniels led all players with 18 points. Goforth also finished in double figures with 11.

The Razorbacks return to Bud Walton Arena on Sunday for a matinee against California.
