A record-setting game for the SEC’s top wide receiver earned him one final regular-season honor on Monday.
Arkansas junior wide receiver Treylon Burks was named SEC Offensive Player of the Week for his effort against Missouri in the season finale on Friday. Burks caught seven passes for 129 yards and a touchdown to help Arkansas snap a five-game losing streak to the Tigers, 34-17.
His 52-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter was his 11th of the season, tying the the record for second most in a single season in school history. His 129 yards put him over the 100-yard mark for the sixth time this season, more times than any other Razorbacks receiver in history in a single year, too.
The award is Burks’ second such this season. He won it the first time after Arkansas beat Texas A&M, 20-10, in September when he had six catches for 167 yards and a touchdown.
Arkansas’ 8-4 record is its best since 2011. The Hogs finished ranked No. 23 in the Associated Press Poll and No. 25 in the AFCA USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll. They should learn their bowl destination in the coming days.
