Vikings’ playoff chances after loss to the 49ers

The Vikings still have hope.

The Vikings did not keep the winning streak alive on Sunday.

Minnesota (5-6) fell to San Francisco. The Vikings (6-5) won two in a row before the defeat in Week 12. Minnesota has to pick up the pieces of a yet another disappointment in a 2021 filled with high expectations.

But there is still hope. According to FiveThirtyEight.com, the Vikings have a 50% chance of making the postseason. Minnesota also has an easy matchup with Detroit on the road in Week 13.

Don’t get me wrong: the Lions are a scrappy team that has played up to their competition at times. But if Minnesota can’t beat Detroit, then the Vikings don’t deserve to make the postseason this year. Minnesota should be expected to pull away from Detroit and increase its playoff hopes in Week 13.

The Packers, the team that beat the Rams in Week 12, has a 99% chance of making the playoffs and a 98% chance of winning the division, according to FiveThirtyEight.com.
