Sixers happy to have Danny Green return despite road loss to Warriors

The Philadelphia 76ers were happy to have Danny Green back in the lineup in their road loss to the Golden State Warriors.

The Philadelphia 76ers just wrapped up a long and grueling 6-game road trip on Wednesday with a 116-96 loss to the Golden State Warriors. They were shorthanded for the entirety of it, but they did have one major piece return in the form of Danny Green.

The veteran guard played in the opener of the trip before re-aggravating his left hamstring tightness and he missed the next four games before returning on Wednesday. He made an impact early by scoring 10 points in the first half and he drew a charge on Draymond Green before the team fell apart in the second half.

“It’s good having Danny back in the lineup, brings a lot to the team obviously,” said Seth Curry. “Had good ball movement, good offense, and good defense in that first half, we just got to sustain it. That’s the best team in the league so it was a good test for us to know we can play with them for a majority of the game.”

Coach Doc Rivers brought Green off the bench in this one rather than have him start like he normally does. This is a usual procedure for a guy who has missed some time and they kept him on a minutes restriction.

“He looked great,” Rivers said of Green. “Unfortunately we had used his allotment so we couldn’t put him back in.”

Green played 17 minutes on the night and he shot 4-for-5 from the floor including knocking down a couple of triples. It was good to get him back out there and the Sixers can now grow and move forward again with him in the lineup.

“Hamstring feels great,” said Green. “There’s other things that I was trying to attend to, but the hamstring feels really good. Wish I could have played more minutes but they didn’t allow me to play more minutes, they stopped me at 17. I was trying to get another extra five or six, but they didn’t let me go back in the fourth. But I felt really good, hamstring felt really good.”
