Phillip Lindsay heads to the Miami Dolphins

Phillip Lindsay is claimed off waivers by the Miami Dolphins.

Well, that didn’t last long.

Phillip Lindsay was released from the Houston Texans earlier this week and didn’t have to wait long to find his next team.

He headed to waivers, and according to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Miami Dolphins claimed him off of waivers.

Lindsay was a shocking release, especially with the Texans’ subpar running back room and the departure of Mark Ingram. However, David Johnson and Rex Burkhead got far more work than Lindsay in recent weeks.

Now, Lindsay will have a clear path to the No. 2 running back role behind fellow Pac-12 star Myles Gaskin, who went to Washington.

So, the former Colorado Buffaloes running back joins his third team in less than one calendar year, and what a whirlwind it has been.

He scored a touchdown to kick the season off with the Texans, but after that became basically a non-factor.

The talent is still there for the shifty running back, and the Dolphins can definitely use a jolt of offense.

Malcolm Brown and Salvon Ahmed have been underwhelming in the backup role, and Lindsay should come in and immediately contribute for a team trying to right the ship after a rough start to the season.

This is a perfect opportunity for Lindsay to show what he has left in the tank and make a name for himself as he enters free agency once again in the 2022 NFL offseason.
