Tom Brady wanted all his buddies to assemble in Tampa after he signed with the Buccaneers during the 2020 offseason.
Not only did Brady successfully encourage Rob Gronkowski to come out of retirement (before the tight end engineered a trade off the Patriots), but the quarterback also called up receiver Julian Edelman to see if he also wanted out of New England. Edelman told the story on Monday night during ESPN’s “ManningCast” broadcast hosted by Eli and Peyton Manning.
Here’s how Edelman remembered Brady’s offer. Edelman’s response to joining the Buccaneers?
“Absolutely not,” he said with the Buccaneers defeated the Giants.
The first day Tom Brady joined the Bucs, he called up Julian Edelman asking if he wanted to join Brady in Tampa Bay.

Edelman spent his 2020 season on the Patriots under quarterback Cam Newton, but the receiver suffered a knee injury and finished on injured reserve. Edelman retired during the 2021 offseaosn.
