The Raiders did not get a win on Sunday and it was costly to their playoff chances. Now on a three-game losing skid, their playoff hopes are on the line in Week 12 against the Cowboys on Thanksgiving.
While a playoff berth might not be in their future, it’s still fair to be excited about this team going forward. One of the biggest reasons why is due to their 2021 rookie class. They’ve gotten three full-time starters already out of this class, two of which are playing at an extremely high level.
According to Pro Football Focus, slot cornerback Nate Hobbs is the fifth-highest graded rookie in the entire NFL. Here is what the site had to say about his performance on Sunday
“While the rest of Las Vegas seemingly crumbles around him, Hobbs continues to be reliable from the slot. This past week he allowed only 11 yards to bring his total to 243 yards on 354 coverage snaps this season.”
Hobbs has been the best rookie defensive back in the NFL by a wide margin this season. He just doesn’t allow any big plays and is one of the best tacklers on the team.
If the Raiders can continue to find players to put around Hobbs and Trevon Moehrig, they’ll have one of the best secondaries in the NFL. This team is not that far away from having an elite defense sooner rather than later.
