Tennessee (6-5, 3-4 SEC) defeated South Alabama (5-6, 2-5, SBC), 60-14, Saturday at Neyland Stadium.
Following the Vols’ win, first-year Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel met with media and discussed the game day environment.
“With it being our Salute to Service game, I just want to open by saying thank you to all the men and women that have and do serve our country,” Heupel said. “Enjoyed having members of the military join us on the Vol Walk. Speaking of the Vol Walk, just thought the crowd was awesome. Not knowing what the energy was going to be, phenomenal turnout. Our players feel and sense that. Love that and appreciate that from our fan base.
“The environment early in the game was phenomenal as well, so appreciate that and going to need that next week too. I thought our kids answered my question, who we are going to be and what we are going to be about as individuals and as a program. Thought they did a great job preparing, came out and played extremely hard early in the football game. Played assignments sound and took care of business.”
