One of the least talked about rookies this season for the Raiders has been Trevon Moehrig. The second-round pick from the 2021 NFL draft. Moehrig has started all nine games for the team this season and has been one of the reasons the secondary has been so improved.
But just how good has Moehrig been this year for the Raiders? Better than you would think. According to Pro Football Focus, Moehrig has allowed just three catches for 21 yards all season. In fact, he’s been one of the site’s highest-graded defensive backs this year.
Here is what they had to say about him after his performance on Sunday Night Football against the Chiefs in Week 10:
“Moehrig was seemingly the only member of the Raiders secondary who didn’t resemble burnt toast by the end of Sunday night football. He continues to be reliable in a single-high role and came away with a pass-breakup on his lone target against the Chiefs.”
Moehrig has just one interception this season and four pass deflections, but he is a big reason why teams aren’t creating big chunk plays down the field. He has been rock solid for the Raiders and is a perfect fit in Gus Bradley’s defense.
With rookies Trevon Moehrig and Nate Hobbs both starting and playing really well for the Raiders, the future is certainly bright when it comes to the secondary.
