Kennedy Chandler was named Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week Monday.
Chandler, a freshman guard for the Volunteers, received the honor after posting a pair of stellar performances last week against UT Martin and East Tennessee State.
He averaged 18 points, five assists and three rebounds in the Vols’ victories over the Skyhawks and Buccaneers.
On Nov. 9 in his Tennessee debut against UT Martin, Chandler scored 20 points, sharing team-high honors with junior guard Santiago Vescovi.
Chandler also had four assists and one rebound against the Skyhawks in a 90-62 victory, and was 4-for-4 from beyond the 3-point arc.
Against ETSU on Sunday, Chandler scored all 16 points in the first half in the Vols’ 94-62 win.
