Making Grades: Oregon turns in an impressive second half to down the Cougars

The Ducks graded out well in their big win over Washington state, with the RBs leading the way.

For three quarters, the Oregon Ducks were able to push around and run over the Washington State Cougars inside Autzen Stadium. If it weren’t for two scoring drives in the second quarter, WSU would have been limping home back to the Palouse.

After a 14-14 score at halftime, the Ducks came out of the break and did what they want on both sides of the ball and eventually win 38-24. Oregon rushed for 306 yards and on defense, pressured Jayden de Laura into enough mistakes to hold the Air Raid offense to a minimum.

Overall, the Ducks will grade out very favorably in a very good showing. However, the showing from ESPN and its weak telecast won’t grade out as well.

QUARTERBACK

Grade: B+

Anthony Brown keeps doing his thing even without much national fanfare. He’s the quarterback for a team that is No. 3 in the College Football Playoff and barely anyone has taken notice.

Against the Cougars, he was able to use his legs more than his arm as Brown rushed for a career-high 123 yards and a touchdown. He also threw for another score on 17-of-22 passing for 135 yards.
