The coaching carousel picked up a new member with the Washington Huskies joining the fray. Three members already jumped off the ride with Texas Tech going with Baylor assistant Joey McGuire, Georgia Southern hiring Clay Helton, and UConn snagging Jim Mora Jr. The main two jobs open right now are LSU and USC. Now fellow Pac-12 school Washington joins the Trojans.
It has been a rough go for the Huskies after Chris Petersen stepping down and Pete Kwiatkowski heading to Texas to join Steve Sarkisian. Lake was recently suspended by the school for an altercation with a player, before he was able to come off the suspension he was relieved of his duties. Washington is viewed as one of the top jobs around the FBS in terms of owning the state and producing some of the top defenses in the country.
The University of Washington fired football coach Jimmy Lake on Sunday fewer than two full seasons into his tenure with the Huskies. https://t.co/5GsF6OQH4O

It would fall just under the tier of an LSU or USC in the grand scheme of things. Will the Huskies opening factor into the hiring at LSU? Hard to say that it would with the likely top candidates including Joe Moorehead of Orgeron and Jay Norvell of Nevada. However, never rule out anything in the world of college football. I never thought Scott Woodward would be able to get Petersen out of Boise State either.
With two weeks left in the college football season for LSU and the early signing period less than a month away, one should fully expect things to start picking up steam. It remains to be seen if the Huskies will factor into any of these decisions coming down the stretch in regards to coaching hires.
