Week 10 is already off to a chaotic start.
The AFC, where parity reigns, has thrown another wrench into the playoff race. The Baltimore Ravens, staring down the league’s 25th-ranked defense, couldn’t manage a touchdown for the first 55 minutes of a showdown with the woeful Miami Dolphins. Now a Pittsburgh Steelers team left for dead after a 1-3 start, and who has been outscored over its first eight games total (161-169), is a win away from first place in the NFL’s toughest division.
Again, chaos.
While this has been awful for anyone attempting to lay out a slate of picks or bets, it’s been wonderful as a fan. Twelve of the AFC’s 16 teams are within a game of a Wild Card spot. In the NFC, a .500 record gets your foot in the postseason door. Horrible starts have been forgiven. Almost everyone is still in the running. The playoffs are wide open.
So let’s foolishly shout into the canyon once more and see how the league distorts that echo into something hideous like “Jets win.”
