Patriots make flurry of transactions to prepare for Browns in Week 10

New England activated offensive tackle Trent Brown from injured reserve. But that’s hardly the only important transaction from the weekend.

The New England Patriots made a handful of roster moves over the weekend to prepare for the Cleveland Browns.

New England activated offensive tackle Trent Brown from injured reserve after he missed nine weeks with a calf injury which he suffered in Week 1. Since joining the team as a trade acquisition this offseason, Brown has played just seven snaps for the team in that Week 1 loss to the Miami Dolphins. It’s unclear where or how much Brown will play, with New England shuffling their talent along the offensive line. Michael Onwenu, who started the season at guard, had been excellent at right tackle, but Isaiah Wynn has been inconsistent at left.

The Patriots ruled out running back Damien Harris and receiver Gunner Olszewski, who both had been questionable after missing the week with concussions, which they suffered in Week 9. However, running back Rhamondre Stevenson cleared concussion protocol and is expected to play, per multiple reports.

The team elevated tight end Matt LaCosse and defensive end Tashawn Bower elevated from the practice squad as weekly fill-ins. They will revert to the practice squad next week.

The Patriots also placed linebacker Jamie Collins placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury, which will keep him off the field for at least three weeks.
