Freshman Byron Cardwell is getting the knack of coming up with big rushes just when the Ducks need them most.
Cardwell capped off a 66-yard, 5-play drive with a 27-yard touchdown run to give Oregon a 31-17 lead with 5:52 left in the fourth quarter.
The Ducks needed to somehow regain momentum after Washington State kicked a field goal earlier in the quarter to cut the lead to just 24-17. That kicked came after a “disputed” fumble call that prevented Anthony Brown from scoring, even though it looked like he was already in the end zone.
There would be no dispute on Cardwell’s scamper, however. It was his second career touchdown.
