Vikings defense gets bad news on the Friday injury report

The Vikings defense continues to face injury setbacks.

For an NFL team, the reality is that it needs good luck in order to truly succeed. One of the factors in a team succeeding is injury health.

The Vikings’ defense can’t get find a break in that regard. Minnesota DT Michael Pierce and LB Anthony Barr are both out for the Sunday game against the Chargers.

Not only that, but CB Bashaud Breeland is questionable for Week 10. With Patrick Peterson on IR for at least one more game, Breeland’s health is of major concern.

Pierce will miss his fifth consecutive game for the team. Minnesota’s best run-stopping nose tackle has not been able to stay on the field due to an elbow injury. Barr, who has played in the last two games, will miss time due to a knee injury.

Barr’s presence isn’t always felt on the Vikings defense — his stats are not exactly eye-popping. But his absence is typically felt. In Week 10, Pierce’s absence will likely be felt as well.
