A theme throughout the Golden State Warriors’ red-hot start to the 2021-22 NBA season has been the flurry of eye-popping dunks from Gary Payton II. In each contest, the Oregon State product seems to set San Francisco’s Chase Center into a frenzy with a new emphatic dunk.
On Wednesday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Payton did not disappoint. After a Timberwolves turnover in the second quarter, Steph Curry was handling the ball down the court on a fast break. As Curry pushed the ball down Golden State’s side of the court for an open layup, the guard floated the ball into the air for Payton II trailing the break.
Payton II showed off his bounce, catching the lob from Curry for another ridiculous dunk. Curry and the rest of Dub Nation in attendance exploded with cheers.

However, Payton II wasn’t done after one highlight-reel dunk. Before the first half was over, the reserve guard caught another lob for a dunk. This time, Andre Iguodala found Payton II soaring to the rim for a smooth reverse dunk.
During Golden State’s 123-110 victory over Minnesota, Payton II finished with seven points on 2-of-3 shooting from the field in 16 minutes. Payton II and the Warriors will be back on the court at Chase Center on Friday against the Chicago Bulls.
