Report: No traction on Ben Simmons-Jaylen Brown deal for Sixers, Celtics

There has not been any traction between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Boston Celtics on a Ben Simmons deal.

The Philadelphia 76ers are continuing to push forward and figure out what to do with 25-year old 3-time All-Star Ben Simmons. It’s obvious that he does not want to be with the organization anymore after he requested his trade and considering the actions he has taken since then.

There have been reports flying everywhere, but the latest one stated that the Sixers and the rival Boston Celtics have discussed a Simmons deal that would include Philadelphia acquiring Jaylen Brown in return. It is a deal that Philadelphia would do in a heartbeat as they probably would not get a better deal right now for him.

However, per Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer, it does not appear that there was any traction on those deals:

While sources indicate there’s been no traction on a deal between the Celtics and 76ers, the inclusion of All-Star Jaylen Brown’s name in the latest Simmons rumor caused quite an uproar.

For the Sixers, that deal would be a no-brainer. They might not get a better player than the 6-foot-6 swingman in exchange for Simmons.

A move that would involve Brown is a nonstarter for Boston, according to sources. It doesn’t make sense for the organization. So all the speculation about him coming to Philadelphia appears to be nothing more than wishful thinking.

While Brown is dealing with an injury right now, he is having a terrific start to the season averaging 25.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.5 assists while shooting 39.7% from deep. He may not be a perfect fit for the Sixers, but he would be a big help and he might be the ceiling when it comes to the value the Sixers want for Simmons.
