For the second time this season, Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker was named Manning Award Star of the Week by the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
Hooker, a redshirt senior and transfer from Virginia Tech, received the honor after his performance in the Volunteers’ 45-42 Southeastern Conference victory over Kentucky at Kroger Field in Lexington Saturday.
Hooker completed 15-of-20 passes for 316 yards and four touchdowns against No. 18 Kentucky. He had two scoring strikes cover more than 70 yards and now has four this season.
Hooker also rushed for 41 yards against Kentucky, which has now lost three consecutive games.
He was also named a Manning Award Star of the Week after the Vols defeated Missouri, 52-24, in Columbia earlier this season.
