Robb: League sources adamant ‘Celtics have no interest in moving’ Jaylen Brown

It seems likely those reports of the Celtics and Sixers talking about a trade for Ben Simmons for Jaylen Brown may be somewhat inaccurate.

Fans of the Boston Celtics disgusted at the suggestion of a trade for Ben Simmons that would send back All-Star forward Jaylen Brown should take that reporting from The Athletic’s Shams Charania with a grain of salt based on what MassLive’s Brian Robb is hearing from his sources regarding such a deal.

“Multiple league sources were adamant to MassLive.com that the Celtics have no interest in moving the All-Star Brown in the interim, particularly with him under team control for two more seasons at a below-market deal,” writes Robb. “76ers general manager Daryl Morey has always aimed high in trade negotiations throughout his career but this is posturing will likely go nowhere given what’s happened to Simmons’ trade value over the past several months in the midst of his holdout.”

Does this mean a trade for Simmons to Boston is off the table? In the MassLive reporter’s estimation, quite the opposite.

Though Robb notes that finding “enough appealing talent or salaries on the Boston roster for an All-Star like Simmons would be a challenge for (team president) Stevens”, there are plausible packages to be assembled if the trade saga for the Sixers drags on long enough.
