J.J. Watt placed on IR

The move does not necessarily end his season. The earliest he can return is in Week 13 after the Cardinals’ bye week.

The Arizona Cardinals made a number of roster moves on Saturday in preparation for their game against the San Francisco 49ers. One of them gives us some finality for the situation of defensive end J.J. Watt.

He was placed on injured reserve, meaning he will miss at least the Cardinals’ next three games.

He injured his shoulder against the Houston Texans, reportedly tearing his labrum, rotator cuff and biceps.

However, since then, there has been talk from the team that perhaps the injuries were not season-ending and that he could return.

The move to place him on IR doesn’t end his season, but it does free up a roster spot.

The Cardinals have three games before the bye week, so the quickest he could return, if it is possible, is in Week 13 against the Chicago Bears.
